I'm still here! These past couple days have mostly consisted of hiding (aka hibernating) at home as much as possible. Our winter here has been unusually mild with almost no snow falls. But since the weekend, it's changed completely.
First we had a nice little snow fall on the weekend. Just enough to cover the ground and make it look pretty and be fun for the kids to play outside. Then, temperatures dropped. And I mean dropped.
Since yesterday, school busses have stopped running in our area. Frost bite can happen within 10 minutes of skin being exposed, that's how cold it is.
And since we live in an apartment and the building (and our windows) are old, this is what our windows look like right now.

The frost is creeping in!!
This door frame happens to be metal, but don't be fooled, even the wooden window frames are covered in ice chunks. It's supposed to be like this until Sunday, though according to the forecast, the worst will be over after today.
So, how cold has it been? It's been as low as about -44 Celsius with the windchill as far as I know. That's -47.2 Faranheit. (My hubby works a couple of hours from here and said it was -51 C this morning, yikes!)
Needless to say, I'm craving soup right now! LOL.
Oh my goodness. How cold!! Keep warm and well xxoo
ReplyDeleteOh no! Yes please keep warm. Layer on some woolens and get out a hair dryer to combat that frost. It does look net though :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! The worse is over now, thank goodness :)
ReplyDeleteOMG as LOW as -44!!!!!
ReplyDeleteand here I was dreaming of a warmer day ~ but girl, that is COLD
This post is proof that global warming is just a myth isn't it ;)
Here's hoping you do get some warmth coming ~ meanwhile, enjoy your soup & blankets.
xoxo
Thanks Ella! It's actually much better now. It's in the -20's and I can feel the difference in my home even. it's kind of sad when -20's feels warmer, but that's a 20 degree hike from a couple days ago so it's very noticeable.
DeleteHugs to you my friend!
